A few days ago, we received the news that we will be returning to America.
We are heartbroken and have not shed tears like this in quite some time. When we signed up for the race, we knew that routes could change and nothing was set in stone or guaranteed, but we expected 11 continuous months overseas. Now, we enter into a season where we have no clear path forward. We could be headed back overseas with the World Race next month. Or in 3 months. Or never.
We are now realizing that we were fitting the World Race into our “plan”. But now, we have no plan. Because we cannot have a plan.
And that is an absolutely beautiful thing.
Proverbs 16:9 was in the hearts of Anna and my father, Perry, over the past couple of days.
“We can make our plans,
but the Lord determines our steps.”
Our hearts are infinitely filled with the glory of knowing that THIS is God’s plan for us.
When we said YES to obeying the Great Commission, we said YES to quitting our jobs & surrendering our finances, to leaving our family and friends in America, to pursuing a life of discomfort.
As my beautiful and spirit-filled Anna put it yesterday during worship with our squad, we didn’t say YES to the World Race, we said YES to Jesus. This slight detour changes absolutely nothing.
When we married 18 months ago, we vowed to each other & to God to live recklessly in pursuit of Jesus. Right now, that means being obedient & saying YES to coming back to America. And at this point, that’s really all we know. Abba, you are SO GOOD.
Love,
The Borchard’s
