Month 3 is in full swing. Panama is a beautiful country, and I'm incredibly excited to be here. For many reasons I think this is going to be a really big month for me. My team too, obviously, but there are already some things in the works that lead me to believe that this month will alter my life a bit in the best possible way. I want to see how it all pans out, so I'm going to keep everyone in the dark. But, I will give you a hint… It has to do with aquaculture. And it gives me chill bumps.
But it would do Nicaragua a disservice not to talk about it more in depth. Ometepe is a fantastic island and CICRIN has become one of my favorite places in the world. I've blogged about how great the kids and staff are, so you know how I feel about them. Ometepe really felt like home to me last month. I felt like I belonged there. I felt like I was doing the Lord's work in the best possible way there. I met amazing people like Sam the Psychologist, a woman at CICRIN who impacted my life more than she knows. I could go on and on about her and the other staff members, but I digress.
The month was great for my team in the way of growth. It was great for me in that regard as well. I turned 23 in Nicaragua, and had one of the best birthdays I've ever had. I embraced community and learned to love the kids in a way I didn't think I could. All-in-all, I will never forget Ometepe Island. I will never ever forget CICRIN. I really think I'm going to go back some day.
As a way to convey how much I loved last month I made a video! Hopefully this won't be the last, so be on the lookout for more. This only conveys a small snippit of last month. Check out all my teammates blogs to see other awesome videos and posts about Ometepe!
I loved Ometepe, and hopefully this video will help you see why.
