My first week in Granada has led me to two conclusions:
1) Nicaragua is perpetually hot
2) This team is eager to bring God’s kingdom
I’m particularly interested in number two, and I hope you are too because I won’t mention the heat of Nicaragua again in this blog.
Here are the details:
- 5
guys, 11 girls on our team (including the leaders) - We
live and work in Granada,
Nicaragua - Although
not restricted to these, work may look like this: - Praying
with a local church, then leading their children in games and a Bible
study, or - Caring
for people in a home for people with disabilities, or - Feeding
the hungry in the slums, or - Praying
and encouraging some of the thousand people that live in the largest dump
I have ever seen (located in Managua)
One of the guys told me of a vision he received from the Lord about starting a prayer movement similar to the one IHOP (International House of Prayer) has started in the states and elsewhere. He is doing lots of research, exploring opportunities and connecting with local churches in an effort to make this become a reality. Another one of the guys is receiving regular insights from the Lord and is eager to obey everything he’s given. The team in its entirety is vigorously taking back God’s kingdom on a day to day basis. It’s been an incredible privilege to be a part of it!
I’ve been meeting with each of the guys one-on-one to disciple them and I’ve started leading weekly discussions/teachings on various topics the Lord has given me. Two nights ago it was spiritual warfare. After the teaching one of the guys stopped everyone, stood up and shouted, “Spirit of fear, I command you to leave this place in the name of Jesus” with his finger pointed forward. How awesome and rewarding that was! This week in itself has incredibly rewarding. I can’t wait to see where this team, the guys in particular, will be on May 12th.
I would love to share with each of you personal stories of what’s happening down here and how God is using me and other members of this team. Please feel free to contact me if you’d like to hear more, know how to pray or would like to offer financial support.
