As my blog title says, I moved to Colorado. I’ve been here for about a week now… bought a one-way ticket, packed two 50 pound bags, said goodbye to my family and took off.
I’ll back up for a second. About two or three months ago, when I was still on the race, I got an email from my dad saying that a doctor named Andy Ingram had opened his basement to people moving out there. Hoping to move to Colorado, I quickly emailed him expressing my great interest in living in his basement. Well here I am now, sitting on one of four leather recliners in front of a fire place and HUGE flat screen TV mounted on the wall. I haven’t used either of those yet, but I do plan to soon. It’s already cold in the nights and mornings.
So I’ve got a job with my Uncle cleaning carpets. Hopefully that turns into a business partnership where we’re just buying up franchises and placing people in the right place. I also found a perfect car for here – a Subaru. It’s my first so of course I washed it and cleaned it all up. Haven’t named her yet, but I did decide it’s a she.
Last night after returning from Winter Park (a 2 1/2 hour drive) I went to Michael Black’s football game and then brought him home. I was hoping the Blacks would be doing something fun that night. No such luck. So I left, planning on getting some dinner at the grocery store and hanging out in the basement by my lonesome. Entering the grocery a lady stopped me, pointing at my shirt and saying “Hey, do you go to Taylor University?”
“I did a year ago,” I replied.
“My daughter just started going there. She’s a freshman.”
Conversation about Taylor and missions ensued. She started a ministry towards widows and orphans in the states. God gave her a vision and a passion for it. Then Taylor came back into the picture.
“You know, I’m having a girl from Taylor and her family over for dinner tonight. Her name’s Caroline Poland,” she said.
“Really? I know Caroline. She lived on my sister’s wing!”
“Well you should come join us for dinner tonight. It’ll be a great surprise!”
I ate ribs last night with great company. I may even join a Bible study she leads on Wednesday nights. Needless to say, the Lord is constantly watching out for me… even when it would just be a boring night in the basement, he wanted me to party with strangers.
