Some background: I was led to Christ by my mother when I was
four years old. I’m not sure how
seriously I took this decision. I was
raised in a Christian home as a missionary kid.
Odd was the morning not spent on the couch with my four sisters and
father studying the Bible and praying. I
was always told the truth growing up, but I never really questioned it.
I believe I only truly made my faith my own about three
years ago after breaking up with my girlfriend of three years. After this time, my mindset completely
changed in almost every facet. I became
more critical of my faith, my actions, other people’s actions, etc. My mindset altered from a passive, read your
Bible because it’s good, try not to sin because it’s bad to a more active study
of Christianity to make it my own; striving to do what’s right and thinking
critically in general.
Since this time I’ve been discovering my skills, my
spiritual gifts, my interests, and more of who I am. I am still figuring a lot of this out. I attribute much of my development the past
few years to the relationships I’ve been in since attending Taylor
University. God blessed me tremendously with some
incredible friends who challenge me and hold me accountable in my faith.
