Wednesdays are my day off. Unfortunately, the day is only my day off. Everyone else still has there stuff to do. So usually I relax and read a book, catch up on emails, write a blog, call some friends, etc. Today caught myself getting a bit restless, so I took off to Granada. Initially I thought I’d rent a motorcycle and learn to drive it. Then perhaps I’d drive it up a volcano, onto some dirt road I’ve never been on, or just to downtown Managua to see what’s there. After a couple minutes of thought I decided to put that on hold for another day. I’ll do that with Pepe (aka Baker Baker) when he can go with me. It’s probably more fun with another person.
So I’ve turned to my default and here I am in a mall in Managua that brings back memories of the World Race. I walked by the chairs that Aaron Bruner and I sat on for a while discussing what we ought to do with ourselves for the next hour and a half while the women shopped. And I remembered a picture I’d seen of Sarah sitting on that chair with another World Racer. I walked past them into the movie theater and watched Seven Pounds. The last time I was in the theater was with all the guys, including Gary Lengkeek, to see The Dark Knight. We smuggled in loads of candy and thought ourselves pretty clever as we were able to sneek it all by the cinema’s employees.
This time it was just me. I’m enjoying myself, but now I’m not sure what to do with myself, so I’m writing this blog and soon I’ll head back to Granada.
Things have been going pretty swell here. We have a “spring break” starting on Saturday for a week. I’ll be going to visit my girlfriend and her family. That’ll be interesting and I’m sure a lot of good fun. I’ve been looking forward to this trip since I knew about it, which has been almost the length of this trip. Other people on the team are going to the beach in Costa Rica or Nicaragua.
I’ll be sure to write a thorough blog on the motorcycle adventure with Pepe after it all goes down. Oh, and one more thing, most countries have a pretty rough time saying my name so I go by Sergio. Some don’t like the name, but it stuck with the spanish community here. My team has taken to calling amazing things “sergilicious”.
I hope your day was filled with great adventure.
