We’ve been ministering in Las Charcas, as you already know, which is a small village in the mountains, close to San Juan in the Dominican. We’ve had 3 main ways of ministering – door to door visits, praying for the sick, and children’s services. My favorite has been praying for the sick, which I found a little surprising. We met Raphael, an elderly man who cannot walk because of a car accident he was in two and a half years ago. He lives in a wooden shack just big enough for his bed, a chair, and his clothes. His brother helps take care of him, but he does so reluctantly. Had he had access to a physical therapist after his accident, he would most likely have the use of his legs now. But, he didn’t then, and he doesn’t understand the importance of moving and stretching his legs now. The muscles have atrophied to the point where it’s basically skin and bone. It breaks my heart. We were able to pray for him, talk to him, hug him. We left him some food that we had left over from lunch, and promised to come back before we leave.

This shack is similar to Raphael’s.  His is about one third this size.
People like Raphael are the reason Seth and I are on this trip – to be able to show them Christ’s love, His hope, and His joy. I pray that this story touches your heart, and that the Holy Spirit moves you to action. You can support us, or someone else who can help Raphael, like Samaritan’s Purse. You can go on your own missions trip to reach the lost and the hurt. Whatever action you take, God will bless. Thank you so much for all your love and support!

We are still in need of $18,050 to stay in the field. Please consider giving as God leads.
