Yesterday a group of us went for a hike to some caves on our day off. For once I actually took photos to capture the memory!

As we hiked up the mountain surrounded on all sides by breathtaking natural beauty, this random ancient TV made me laugh.

Andy and Stephen: horse whisperers. This curious little guy encouraged us as we continued hiking up the mountain.

At the top of the mountain we rested. From the left Kayla, Andy, Stephen, Reid and me.

Behind us was pure magnificence. In the far distance you can see the Dominican coast. With me is my friend Ama who helped our teams with translating all month long! He loves Jesus a whole lot and is Ama-zing (:

We trekked along the mountain ridge for a spell and then descended into a dense forest. I’m talking about a legitimate Lord of the Rings kind of forest. Check it out:

Hidden deep in the forest we found what we were seeking: the gaping entrance to the caves.

We climbed and slid down the steep face of the cave. A glance back yielded this epic photo of Reid and Andy.

After immortalizing our names in mud inside the caves and exploring a bit, we ate lunch and headed home. The dark rainclouds chased us all the way back.

Our guide caught this giant spider in the caves. We named him “Caballito” meaning “Little Horse”.

Early in the morning we are all traveling to Santo Domingo, DR where we will spend several days in debrief of this first month on the Race. From there we will continue into our next country: Haiti. Please keep us in your prayers, that we would catch hold of each opportunity to bring light, truth and generous love to the people we encounter. For those of you who’ve been praying over the health of my team, thank you. Everyone is out of the hospital now and as a whole we are on the mend. Praise God!
