As you guys are gearing up for Training Camp, look over this list

and make sure you are fully prepared!!

The accommodations at training camp are somewhat primitive. Be sure you are prepared for any weather – hot afternoon, cold nights, rain, sleet and maybe even some snow – ANYTHING!!

Though you may think I’m exaggerating, one camp started at 80 degrees and then dropped to below freezing.  BE prepared! You will be properly equipped if you follow your WR packing list. Be sure you have these items:

  • Tent
  • All sleeping stuff including a sleeping bag
  • Clothes for the whole time ( 1 semi casual outfit – nice jeans and a nice shirt).  Plan for mostly outdoor activities.  AIM dress code does apply.  FYI, some clothes  may be ruined by our pretty Red Georgia Dirt!
  • Shoes…we recommend bringing the shoes you think you want to wear on the Race.  Keep in mind that our Georgia dirt will not leave anything white. -This could include flip flops (shower shoes)-Chacos, Keens, Tevas (for the more rugged sandal) -Athletic shoe (for more active wear or when you need closed-toed shoes)
  • Water bottle or mug if you want hot drinks
  • Mess kit for cooking on fires!  (It’s definitely not NEEDED, but could come in particularly handy.)  If you don’t know what a mess kit is check out:

  • Towel and shower stuff
  • Basic First Aid kit – including: mosquito spray, medicine for stomach issues, headaches, allergies (including seasonal), bug bites, band aids, anti-bacterial wipes, ointment, sunscreen, and aloe vera.
  • Headlamp – to make your way through the darkness
  • Bible, journal, pens…this is a must for processing!!
  • Spending money – enough for one meal, fun times with your team, or items to purchase at camp
  • Laptop (for note taking and blogging) – this isn’t a must, but it wouldn’t be an awful thing to have either.

Many of you have been asking about how to pack your items.  We do ask that you try to bring a backpack to Training Camp.  If you want to wait until after Training Camp to purchase a backpack, please borrow a backpack from someone else to use during camp.
