September 2012 squads take the stage for a Battle Royale, a blitzkrieg, a crusade of valiant warriors. After the dust settles, who will be left standing?
Squad Wars is a tradition dating back to the earliest ages of the World Race. Since the dawn of time (circa 2010), squads have mustered their troops, fighting at the sound of the battle cry, proving their dominance over other contending squads. Song. Dance. Marshmallows. Hosiery: all weapons in the battlefield. But the war doesn’t begin at training camp. The war starts now.
If the Eye of the Tiger isn’t playing in your head yet, it should be. Future Racers, you may have heard that World Race people are crazy and we will not try to deny it, but have you heard just how crazy we can be? Yes, we might stand on chairs, deem brokenness as beautiful, and go days without a shower. Consider yourself warned.
Here’s how it works: There will be 4 squads launching in September 2012. Until now, you may have been known as Routes 1, 2, and 3. But an identity shift is a coming. You will now be known by your squad letters, I, J, K and L respectively.
Points will be awarded for various Squad Wars challenges beginning now through training camp. The squad with the most points at the end of Squad Wars WINS!
Your first challenge… MEET SUPPORT GOALS
Your mission:
be the squad with the highest percentage of members meeting the first financial DEADLINE of $3500 by JULY 1
Points will be awarded to squads accordingly:
1st place= 500 points
2nd place= 250 points
3rd place= 100 points
This fight is not “every man for himself” type fighting. Take the field by storm together as a squad. Use your squad blog and facebook page to interact, plan, and work together to reach these goals. Talk to each other! Swap ideas for fundraisers and networking and meet those goals and checkpoints!!
