SOOO….You are the September World Race 2010 squad! Are you counting down the days yet? Nervous? Anxious? Cramming in as much Chick-fil-A and Target time as you can before you leave the comforts of America before your life gets changed forever??
No worries. I promise. I’ve been there…a couple times. And I am so very excited you’ve chosen to be a part of the World Race family.
My assignment today was to introduce myself to your squad. I will be managing your questions concerning anything from Passports to Insurance to Pictures and anything else we may need from you before you leave the country. Plus… if you have any questions I can help you out between now and then.
>>>Once upon a time…
I was introduced to Adventures in Missions in 2001. I went on my first short term trip with them in the summer of 2002 to England and Ireland.
Fast-forward to the World Race part of me… I was a part of the September 2007 crew. There were 26 of us before we picked up an additional teammate on our way through Africa. It was a tough 11 months but God became more alive in, through, and around me during that time than ever before.
I returned to the states in July of 2008. Over that next year I moved to Georgia to live with family – and since AIM was so close I offered my time to serve at every training camp they had that year. (I’m kinda addicted to training camps, PS. I think they’re amazing.)
Summer of 2009 I led a Real Life college-aged team to Central America. This was the first time I had ever led anything. (Once you get to know me you may think I’m frickin’ amazing… but really it’s all because I have this unusual habit of just saying “yes” to God a lot and not really knowing anything else that’s going on.) I returned from that summer trip and ten days later I left to lead the August 2009 World Race squad for four months. It was the best four months I never expected. I fell in love with the 42 Racers I led through Europe before leaving them to finish their Race through the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
After following God’s leading to spend the past 4 months in Indiana I am very gratefully back in Georgia. “In my spare time” I’m helping the World Race with awesome stuff such as this… by helping YOU get prepared for your life-changing time on the Race. I am in the office during the weekdays 12-4PM if you have any questions or needs. You can reach me at 770.983.1060 ext. 205
>>>God loves you SO much and is already so proud of your faith and obedience. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at training camp soon!!<<<
Some illustrations for your enjoyment… plus I’m kind of a visual person…
