Being on the World Race we travel quite a bit. So, I’m writing this blog to give thanks to God for directing our travel plans. One of my favorite verses that I say all the time is, Proverbs 16:9, ” A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” This is true in both life and I’ve come to find out it is also true when traveling to and from ministries. The first month when we left Antigua, Guatemala for the orphanage, travel was really easy. Our ministry contact picked us up in Antigua and drove us straight to the orphanage. However, when we left Guatemala that wasn’t necessarily the case.  After strategically planning out our bus trip from Guatemala to Nicaragua, we headed to the bus station with as usual an overloaded van full of people. The Tica Bus station was probably about an hour from the orphanage, so when we arrive at the bus station we see practically all of S-Squad waiting to get on a bus to Nicaragua. There were no more seats available on the bus, so we ended up staying in Guatemala an extra night in a room that was approximately 8′ by 10′. We were able to leave the next morning for Nicaragua. From Nicaragua we traveled to El Salvador. This is where we see the benefits of God being our travel agent. When we arrived at the bus station in El Salvador we met up with another World Race team and was able to meet his contact. Which was huge because he just happened to know who we were staying with in El Salvador. We know one person in the whole country and we happen to meet someone who knows him in a bus station with about 15 people in it. His name was Oscar, and we would have never met him if we wouldn’t have missed our bus in Guatemala. He took us all over El Salvador, we were able to see his ministry and fellowship with him. He even drove us straight to the house we were staying at for the night. This may not seem like a big deal, but it’s absolutely huge when you’re in a foreign country. It’s like getting dropped off in the middle of nowhere and a horse trotting up to you fully saddled. God is good.
It happened again going from Nicaragua to Costa Rica. We were unable to reach our contact in Costa Rica the day of and the day before our travels, so we didn’t know exactly where we had to go. And by the way, they don’t do addresses here. So when we were almost in Costa Rica, a very nice Christian lady struck up conversation with Cody. Go figure, she happened to have a son who was in the taxi cab business and he was meeting her at the bus stop. So we were able to use his phone to call our contact and the contact gave him directions straight to the house. These things tend to happen quite a bit when we travel and we’re just not sure how things are going to work out, but we know they will work out. Paul and I were walking on the side of the highway the other day and as soon as we passed up our turn, a dump truck stopped in front of us. In fact, we were unaware we passed up our turn because we had no idea where we were going. As soon as we got off track just a little bit, God put someone in our path to guide us in the right direction.
When we’re seeking God with all our heart, he always makes sure we’re on the right path. This is His promise to us.
