God prove us stupidly wrong. This were the words Josiah and I were praying at the start of the day, but this was no ordinary day, this was a day I had been dreading for a while, today was faith day. I had know that faith day was coming for almost a week and would tell people that it was no big deal, that the worst thing is that I wouldn’t eat for a day, but I was lying, faith day was about seeing God work for you and be there for you. I was scared, terrified even that God wouldn’t be there for me. For those of you that don’t know, faith day was when we got sent out in pairs with no food, money, or water, and were told to listen to the voice of God and do what he has planned for you.
Josiah and I were partners for faith day and we both prayed to ask God what he wanted us to do. I got a vision of this place in Tamel, which is a twenty minute bus ride away, and Josiah got Jawalkel, which was a 20 minute walk away, but is where you catch the bus, so we started heading out in that direction. We both talked about how we have trouble believing and allowing God provide for us, and how it has been a constant struggle. Josiah started praying that God would provide for us and prove us wrong that he will provide for us. I blurted out “prove us stupidly wrong God!” and Josiah repeated the words in agreement.
When we got to Jawalkel we passed this huge and beautiful building that caught my eye, I looked closely and realized that it was a catholic school. I told Josiah that I felt like we were suppose to pray for the school, so we went to the gate, put our hands on it and prayed for the school. while we were praying I had a feeling that we were then suppose to talk to the principle and pray for him. We talked to the guard, told him we were missionary’s and wanted to pray for the principle, the guard looked at us like we were crazy but phoned the principle anyways. About five minutes later we were meeting with the principle and he was sharing his testimony. He asked if we could pray for him and the school kids, that only about 200 out of the 2000 students believed in God. While we were praying I heard God tell me to stay at the school the rest of the day. I asked the father if there was a way we could help out the schooll and He told us we could help the music and PE classes in a half hour.
At this point it was noon and Josiah and I were hungry, we didn’t know what to do about food, we had a half hour until we needed to be back. Should we go and try to find food and water somewhere else? I ended up saying lets just ask someone here of they have food they can give us. we were brought to the teacher lounge where they fed us more then enough and gave us clean drinking water. Josiah and I looked at each other and couldn’t believe how awesome our day was going, we got food, clean water and ministry to do for the day. First we went to the music class, they were actually dancing during that class period, but not a whole lot of dancing happened that class period. The students were so happy that Americans where there visiting there school. Josiah and I had at least 20 students each surrounding us asking us questions touching us and our hair. Josiah and I were able to tell a lot of the students that we were there because Jesus loved them, the first time a lot of these students had ever been told that before in there life.
We contended on the day at the school, just trying to emulate the love of Jesus to these students as well as the teachers. Josiah and I had an amazing time at the school and were sad to leave. While walking home we couldn’t stop from smiling, God had provided us the best day we had on the race so far. God provided everything we needed and more so that day. Josiah turned to me and said, “Scott, we were proven stupidly wrong today”. This was the best prayer that I have ever prayed. God showed us there is a reason that he is called the ultimate provider, and taught us a lesson we soon won’t forget.
