Growth means change

Growth is something that so many people desire in their lives. They want their life to be better than it is now.  The only problem is that people don’t like or want change, they want to sit in the place that is comfortable and then expect the growth to form around them. The only problem with this is that you can’t improve while also staying the same.  Growth means and requires change.

In order to get the growth you desire you might need to change your perspective. This has been something God has been working on with me this past month.  He has been changing my perspective and the way I think each and everyday.  I would always expect growth to come from a place of comfort. But in this new season He is teaching me that growth comes from change and that I should never limit my dreams or myself.

Someone who is a great example of not limiting himself is George Lucas.  People were telling him all the time that Star Wars was a bad idea and that the technology wasn’t available yet. But even though George Lucas had all those people telling him he couldn’t, he believed and had a different perspective than everyone else. So George Lucas started by creating Industrial Light and Magic (ILM).  He used this company to do the impossible and to do what everyone was telling him he couldn’t.  The Star Wars movies set the bar for other movies to come. George Lucas didn’t listen to the people telling him what he couldn’t do, he only saw the outcome and how much change can foster growth.

“Some men see things as they are and say, ‘why?’ I dream of things that never were and say, ‘Why not?'”  George Bernard Shaw

In the past month there have been a lot of changes such as: a new continent, new teams, and a new role with the squad. Our squad is now in Africa!  I am now on a new team with Bethany and Emma. I am no longer a team leader, they have asked me step up and be a squad leader.  With all of this change God is having me step into a new season of growth where He is asking me to dream big and not limit myself or let others put limits on me.

Thank you for all your prayers & support.  This trip has taught me so much.  I look forward with anticipation to each day with a new perspective to see where God is going to grow me & challenge me.  It is not always easy, but it is worth it.  Without each of you & your support this trip would not be possible. Thank you so much.  As you can see I am very close to reaching my goal. God is good!!!!

This month I will not have wi-fi very often, sorry if I don’t keep in contact more.  I am also learning a new role & responsibilities so your prayers are very important. Thank you again!

Blessings,
Scott Peterson
