Writing support letters can be pretty hard. Not gonna lie. It’s something you want to make sure you get right. After many days of thinking, rough drafts, sample letters, and prayers. I have finally come up with this updated support letter to hopefully not only get me passed my 3rd financial deadline but to  being FULLY FUNDED. I mean God is big so let’s AIM big. Fully funded here I come. WOOOO!!!

Dear Supporters,

If I were you, I would probably be thinking, here’s another support letter. That’s a completely fair thought. I keep asking myself how I am going to write this so here it goes. I remember seating at my college pastor’s house last fall when he told me he saw me going on a long-term mission trip. I chuckled and responded quickly with a no. Not me, I could never do long term missions. Well, one year later, here I am 3 months into an 11-month mission trip. Funny how God works! I wasn’t sure if the timing of this trip was great, but then again is there ever a “good time” to go on a mission trip? But I keep coming back to God loves people.

God placed on my heart a desire to love & be a blessing to His people. By encouraging them, loving them, laughing with them, and being Jesus to them.

When deciding to go, it wasn’t too difficult. Jesus painted a pretty simple outline for us. Love God, love others, and love ourselves. Yes, there were factors I considered when coming, but the biggest challenge was paying, that’s the real challenge.

To be honest with you, I just don’t have all the money to fund my trip fully on my own. Especially now that I’m living on less then $2 dollars a meal a day, and wearing the same 7 set of clothes each week. So, I decided to send support letters to people and ask for something I don’t usually ask for, money. I would really appreciate it if you would consider financially supporting me on this mission trip. Whether it is a little or a lot, any amount will help. Let this be an opportunity to hear what amount God places on your heart, and how he wants to use you for His kingdom. If you are interested in more about my trip, feel free to visit my blog scottperez.theworldrace.org or ask me via email. I would love to go in depth on the relationships I’ve built so far, the kids I’ve hugged, the kingdom builders I’ve encountered, and the things God has showed me about his love for the world. Donations can be made at support-scott.org.

If you could also pray about the trip, that would be amazing. Along the journey we have experienced obstacles and challenges, but through God’s faithfulness in answering prayers, we’ve been able to overcome. And knowing that you are praying would mean a lot to my squad and myself.

Thank you for taking the time to read yet another “can I have your money” support letter. Excited to see whom God calls to be apart of this adventure with me. God bless.

Sincerely,
Scott

Well there you have it folks. My second shot at writing a support letter. After reading it myself I realized that it sounded like me. That’s I believe support letters should be. They should be personal and not a business transaction in my opinion. Hope you enjoyed the humor and the seriousness wrapped into one. Thank you!!

P.S Have an awesome Holiday season!!!
