As we say good byes every month, and then make new friends, I am stuck on the thought of our lives being an amazing journey.
Our last night in Diriamba, the youth made a campfire and really were having a tough time saying good bye. I told them in life we will have many good byes, but that they need to pursue the life God has for them, and we are guaranteed to see each other again, even if it is in heaven.
I think about this, even as I never really said good bye to the Schweitzers, as I got into a game of football on the beach at lake Nicaragua and when I came back up the Schweitzers had left.
Now we will join in with a new group of people for a month, and then go our separate ways. I believe, even as we discussed in debrief, that people are put in our lives to shape us. We need to remember we take a piece of each person we are in contact with and we also leave a piece of ourselves.
Our journeys share a path for awhile, then we part. We need to be conscious to share ourselves, and that each person we walk with is encouraged and strengthened in our time together. We also need to realize that the other person has so much to offer, and to be intentional to learn from others.
I guess I am just sharing something I have been thinking about.
