We were walking down the street in Tumpa, and when I mean down, I mean a 30 degree angle.  A taxi pulled up beside us and I waved to the driver, said buenos dias, but no we don´t want a ride.  He asked if we had a bible for him.  No we didn´t, but we would get him one.

As we have made friends and been welcomed into homes, as we have had great conversations about our reason for being in Tumpa, we have come to a realization.  An epiphany.  Many people have brought religion to this area, but no bibles.  Religions don´t want people to be free.

Religion is Satan´s lie.  God put eternity in our hearts and Satan whispers another way to eternity.  Jesus in John 14 vs. 6 says he is the only way, truth, and life.  The bible makes this clear.  Satan invents a religion.  Satan makes us think we can come to God by a lifestyle or rules.  That we need someone else to pray because we are not worthy.  We are unworthy of God.  Satan´s lies.  Anything but Jesus.  That there are other ways to God, or Jesus plus something else.  Jesus plus Mary.  Jesus plus a priest or saints.  Jesus plus the law.  You can´t eat certain foods etc.  The people here have been fed one lie after another.

So we realized (duh) people need the word.  The bread of life.  People need this gift.  Manna from heaven.

Last week, we bought 20 bibles, and today we bought 36 more.  We have ordered another 40 for next week.  That will be 96 new bibles in an area where no one has one.

It makes me think of spreading fertilizer, fruit that will last, a soil which will produce a crop long after we are gone.
