I have to brag about my niece, Lindsey Alexanian. I believe she is now a whole decade old, and this morning Linnea told me this:

As I understand it, there was a book reading competition in her class. They were supposed to keep track of how many books they read during the three month long term. The previous record was 18. That is six books per month. Pretty dang good.

In my opinion, there is nothing that will shape a person more than the books they read (or the people they spend time with, so choose both wisely). I forgot who said it, but I remember the quote that the difference between who you are today and who you will be in five years is the books you read during that time. One other thought I remember is this: leaders are readers and readers are leaders. Cute rhyme, huh? But I think it is true.

Linnea asked me to guess how many books Lindsey read. Knowing Lindsey, and thinking about the record, I opened my guessing at 30. Linnea used her thumb to indicate for me to guess higher. 40? Thumb still pointing to the roof….

Ok, the number is astounding…64. Sixty four books in 12 weeks? Wow.

Good job Lindsey! (I think we might have a future world racer here)
