It is our date night. I am chewing a frozen snickers bar. I sit next to my wife. I watch Al Jazeera TV and I wonder about life and the world.
Al Jazeera tells us of the Burmese struggles, and we were in Burma for a few hours, we have been with christian refugees from burma, the Karen tribes and we have spoken with monks and heard of the struggles in what is now called myanmar. The refugees we met, the old long necks, people who have left burma because of the persecution. The military junta which rules, the generals are in power and the christians left long ago and now the buddhists are being persecuted, we as christians need to pray for this country. It is our family that is being destroyed there, and with governmental changes all the karen can return to their homelands…I hope.
Oh, yeah, I am watching Al Jazeera, a bit different than FOX, and we watch the South American celebrations of the 40th anniversary of Che Guevara’s death. I think about what he hoped for: each man being equal to another? I think of our constitution, that each man was created equally, and I wonder about the CIA’s involvement in the american dream. I think about our Cuban friends and how they don’t like him, and I think of the Motorcycle Diaries and what he hoped for. What gets warped or lost along the way?
I see that Marion Jones has relinquished her medals and the Yankees lost to the Indians, and I am happy, but I wish that the Sox had taken them out. I love when the Yankees lose. I see that the Cowboys pulled one out versus Buffalo and next week it is the undefeated Boys facing my Pats, should be a good game. I am wondering if the resident Genius in Foxborough (alleged spying) will ever have a perfect season.
It is weird to see maps that have the Philippines or Thailand at the center. The United States not dominant on the map? Looks funny. We watch reports on Homeland Security and Al Quaida.
We watch news on China and we leave for China tomorrow, we will be unable to write any blogs while in China, so this might be the last blog I post for a while.
