What a welcoming it has been! After about 33 hours to Nairobi, and then a 10 hour bus ride to Siaya we have finally made it to our home for the month on Tuesday August 9th, and have already been so blessed by Rev. Joseph Osundwa and his family. Not only do we not have to sleep in tents this month, but in actual beds, and we have an indoor toilet(though no running water), but Rev. Joseph has opened up his very own home for us to stay in. When arriving to Rev. Joseph's house we were welcomed with open arms and with an amazing meal of ugali, rice, fish, coffee, bread, and much more. So no need to worry about me not getting enough food, every meal so far we have been way overstuffed.
Today Rev. Joseph and Pastor Daniel gave us a tour of the town we will be serving in the next few weeks, the town of Siaya is a beautiful place with amazing people, who greet us Muzunga with a smile and a welcoming handshake everywhere we go.
It feels good to finally have a clearer idea of what we will be doing for the month, and to have a chance to unpack at least for a few weeks in one place. So far it looks to be a very busy month, which I am excited about, Delivernce Church has many things going on everyday it seems. Some of the weekly times we will be part of is a leadership service from 10am to 1pm on Thursday, all night prayer from 8pm-4am(I'm still not sure what this will look like or if we will be there the entire night), and of course Sunday service from 7:40am to whenever it is over? In addition to that next week we are going to have a chance to be part of meeting people in their homes and then having an outdoor revival service, and then we are putting on a five day VBS like program for the kids the week after that.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and support. I hope to keep you updated as much as possible. Until then here are some pictures of our drive through Kenya.
