*** About Us ***
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
My name is Denise… well, technically my name is “Dennis” the Spanish version of “Denise,” but for the sake of not confusing anyone- Hi, I’m Denise =) I am a daughter, a sister, a wife, an aunt, a friend, and as you’ll soon find out, a total dork!
I was born in Bogota, Colombia (South America). I have lived in the United States since I was seven years old. I grew up in Modesto, CA with my little sister Danielle, my mom Maria, and my “step-dad” German (pronounced “Herman”). Although when I say “dad” this is the guy I’m referring to, this is my daddy. I have two other half sisters on my biological father’s side; Marcela and Natalia, but they live in Colombia. I am married to my best friend, Scott. Being loved by him is truly one of my greatest blessings. He has been instrumental in my walk with Christ and in my new found passion to be the person God created me to be. Scott and I have been married for 4 years and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us.
In a nutshell I would say that I am a very loving person, I love to laugh– I don’t like to cry (but sometimes I do). My favorite color is blue… every shade of it. I am intrigued by crime shows; I love them. I love God and his abundant beauty! I love the beach, sunsets, clouds/rain, art, photography, music, people, fooood! I thoroughly enjoy traveling, independence, wit, silliness, sleep, shopping, painting, beading, sewing, friends and family, the outdoors, movies, philosophical conversation, and life in general… I wish we had more time to enjoy it all. I guess eternity in Heaven will have to do.
I am really looking forward to sharing this adventure with you guys; I can’t wait to meet you all!

My name is
Scott and I live in a small college town called Davis, just outside of Sacramento, CA. My wife and I currently live with my mom, Janet, my dad, Matt, and my older sister, Sarah. It has been interesting living with five adults under the same roof, but it has given us a chance to save money for this mission, as well as spend some time with my family before leaving in January.
Now let’s get to the fun stuff. I am passionate about many different things, especially anything that has to do with learning. For instance, one of my greatest passions is space, and I could talk for hours about stars, planets, physics, etc. Along those same lines, I also love history and philosophy. My top three vices are junk food (In-N-Out anyone?), computer games, and sci-fi/fantasy books. I also love the outdoors, and some of the best times I’ve spent with my wife have involved camping, hiking, and kayaking. I’m a big-time animal lover; at one point in time, I had a dog, an iguana, two rats, a rabbit, a bearded dragon, and two turtles (I have since narrowed it down to just the rabbit, and even she will be getting a new home very soon). My favorite movie of all time is Braveheart. My favorite musician is James Taylor (followed closely by Damien Rice). The best book I’ve ever read is Dune (although I enjoyed every book in the series about equally).
God and family are the two most important things in my life. Four years ago I married the only person on earth who truly understands me, and I have been smiling ever since. One of the greatest privileges of my life has been to witness the absolute transformation my wife has undergone since giving up her life to Christ. I never thought I would be so happy to give up the position of greatest importance in her life, but it has been a blessing I never could have seen coming. Not only has God lit a fire in Denise’s heart, but through her, he has re-ignited the fire in my own. The World Race, and specifically the act of letting go of control of our own lives, is simply the next logical step in our walk with God. I am so excited to share this experience with my wife, and I know that I will have a great time sharing it with all of you as well!
