If just the title doesn’t make you want to either hurl or fight, you might need a soul check.

It used to be that this type of news story would blow my mind. I would think to myself, “how in the world could anyone do such a thing?” Or “this doesn’t actually happen.”

But the sad truth is now, I see it often.

Since discovering that human trafficking was even a thing I’ve been deeply disgusted by it. Not just “oh that’s awful” and say I’ll pray about it kind of disgusted. But can’t sleep some nights and feel it in my every fiber of being that I can’t turn my check to such an industry. And the more I look into the darkness, the more horror I find.
It’s stories like this one that really stir my fire.

This isn’t some over seas issue. Human Trafficking happens in our backyard, in most cities in America. I am so thankful that it is being taken seriously and awareness is being raised every day! I want to be part of more than awareness though. I desire to be part of saving these women, men, and children and showing them love. I deeply desire for these victims to feel like they are worth more than the bodies they have to offer and to find their passions in this life.

During my time in Gainesville in the Fellowship Program I am getting to play my first small role in this calling.  Beauty for Ashes is a restoration ministry offered to broken women, especially those caught in and rescued from the sex industry. Our Kingdom Journeys women’s teams take this ministry to the nations, and here in Gainesville we are training women to bring the ministry to our local community. This is the department I’m getting to market and help develop. It is a beautiful way to hear women’s stories, to restore their faith, and show them their worth in Christ.

Would you help me in this fight? This program is training me in the professional side of ministry and deepening my roots in Christ. I fully believe this is the first door God has opened for me to step into this journey.

But to stay, I need your help.

I need $8,200 more dollars for this program. Your money doesn’t go to me, but to support Adventures in Missions and the departments they have to grow The Kingdom. Through supporting me, you will be funding ministries like Beauty for Ashes and allowing for a safe space for victims to feel loved and worthy.

Isaiah 61:1-3
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion – to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.”
