When Magical School Bus landed in Nepal we knew our time together was coming to a close. It’s hard to describe how good this team was, it was so good. From Preston I learned gentleness and intentionality. He is a man who cares deeply and loves hard. He gets down on himself sometimes but I’ll miss how much he cared. You are my very tall southern brother. From Katherine I saw how greatly she loved through service. Her gentle words carried weight, she is wise beyond her years. She showed me how to extend grace and patience in the hard times and I’ll remember how sweet and pure her heart was for our little team. Kaydan has passion in spades. At times it hides behind his dad jokes, but few people can preach and teach the word like he can. I learned so much from our talks about theology. From Johan I learned to let go and have joy. Why not climb up that tree or dance around? He helped me stop taking life so seriously and showed me how to love the people in front of me. Alisha was with us our first two months. She showed me how to dream big with God, how to imagine this big crazy life with him as Father and to run after it. In Sara God gave me more than I bargained for, a sister, a person to bear all my secrets and still love me. You gave me my sense of belonging on the race, a piece of home.
Team changes happened almost a week ago. So far I’ve missed you all everyday and cried, everyday. Who is this girl who cries?! I don’t really like the vulnerability, but you brought it out of me. You weren’t just my team, you became my family. And being separated sucks. I am brokenhearted. But I know God is so good. He brought us the gift of 4 months together, and He has so much more in store in the months ahead.
I will miss standing next to you. Sleeping 18 inches from you. Telling you every other thought I have, 24-7. You’re all allowed to love your new teams, just not as much. (Kidding. I pray God gives you even more joy and love for them. God always gives more).
Here is my last video of us. We made it to the Taj. Even though we had to take several flights, the worst train ride, and get no sleep, I’d do it again, with you guys. I love you all deeply. Team Magic School Bus for life. #varsity.
