The last few days in Romania, we have been able to go out as a squad and evanglize to the people of Alba Iulia. Before we go out we pray. Pray that the Lord would use us, bring us people that He is pursuing and allow us to see His glory in that day. We also do a listening prayer.

For those that this is a foreign concept. Listening prayer is when you ask the Lord something then you allow Him the space and the silence to respond. It is something that I have always wanted to get better at. I have been practicing for the last month on listening for the Lord’s words in me. I have practiced truly letting the Holy Spirit guide me through His words, visions, and any way that He wants to communicate with me daily. It takes discipline but most importantly it takes knowing that you are worthy (as a son and daughter of Christ) to hear His voice. But back to my story…

Saturday afternoon, we were getting ready to go out so we started our listening prayer. “Lord,” I said, “if there is someone that you want me to talk to today then tell me what they are wearing or what they look like or lead me to them.” I sat. I waited. I gave God space to respond. “Savannah, you will talk to a girl in a white dress.” To be sure this is what I heard I asked a few more times and each time, “a girl in a white dress” came to my mind. My mentor later asked me if I heard the Lord say anything and I told her what I had heard. My teammate Melissa shared with us how important it is to share with one another what we hear from the Lord because we are not always the person that will be speaking to that particular person we heard about. So I told a few others and my squadmate Molly responded with, “You gonna find you a bride today!” when I told her what the Lord had spoken to me. I laughed it off and did not really think much about it.

We walked to the park, which is amazingly beautiful, and spilt into groups. My mentor asked me and another teammate of mine to go with her into the park. We began speaking with people in the park about how Jesus has changed our lives and how we felt we had to share that with others. It was awesome to see God work in the lives of the people we were talking too. You could clearly see that the Lord was pursuing each and everyone of them and we got to be a little part of that.

A few hours into us speaking with people, we decided to split into smaller groups. Now it was just my mentor and I. Still no girl in a white dress. While we were walking around the park, we found a man. We sat and spoke with him for about 40 minutes and it was beautiful. The Lord truly brought us this man to encourage us. But that’s a whole other story! We got up to leave John, we were saying our goodbyes and the first thing my mentor said was, “I saw your girl!” I was very confused… “What girl?” I said. “The girl in the white dress!” she said. Y’all I had totally forgotten about that. We had been evangelizing for almost 4 hours at this point so it was at the back of my mind…

We walked up to a group of our squadmates and my mentor was asking them if they had seen the girl because we had to find her, we had to talk to her! At that moment we were standing on a bridge and we looked over the ledge… There she was. A beautiful bride taking wedding pictures with her new husband.

“Come on! Let’s go!” said my mentor. “Her! Teresa she is taking pictures… What am I suppost to say to her?” I said with hesitation in my spirit.

“It was you that the Lord spoke to, right?” Teresa said with excitment.

“Well yeah…”

“Then it has to be you!”

Before I knew it, there we were standing in the middle of these peoples photos asking if we could talk to them for just five minutes. The bride actually spoke English and said yes of course. I then explained to her about how the Lord told me I was going to speak to a girl in a white dress and she was that girl! I proceeded to tell her what were doing out there, spreading the love and good news of Jesus Christ. She was in shock. She explained that her and her husband had been married for two months but were just now getting pictures. Y’all. God’s timing blows me away every time!!! We got to share with her about how marriage can be used to multiple ministry and that her and husband could do so much good for the Kingdom together. We prayed for them, their marriage, and that the Lord would use them to further His Kingdom.

But the story is not over! The photographer then chimed in and said that him and his assistant would be getting married next June, so we prayed for them too! For their marriage, their health, and that the Lord would use them to show the Kingdom of God to others through their marriage.

Y’all. God told me I would talk to a girl in a white dress. And I got to talk and pray for that girl that day. How awesome is it that the Lord wants to speak to us! He wants to use us! And He will do both if we allow Him the space and the silence to do so. Wowza!!

With love,

Sav
