Yep, that’s right!! As I type this post, my two teammates are pulling and picking all the lice out of my hair. What angels! I’ve actually been trying to avoid this at all costs but that didn’t really work, did it?
I’ve been taking all precautions. I have only been washing my hair every three days so that it wouldn’t be too clean (lice don’t like clean hair). Or so I thought. I haven’t been sharing hair brushes, well until the last two days… but hopefully that isn’t what gave me lice.
Actually, my head never even itched. Today when I came home from ministry I found my squad mate Emily checking for lice. I didn’t even think twice. After sometime of being back at our lodging space my team leader came to check our entire team. My first thought, “okay sure, I know I don’t have lice.” She started checking and it seemed to take her a little while…
“Sav, come with me”
“Wait, no why….”
Low and behold. An egg. I wasn’t freaking out because it was only one egg so it was no big deal. I went to wash my hair with lice killing shampoo and I saw two lice in my hair. I didn’t freakout because it was only lice. You can do something about lice. As my teammates started picking, they found so many…..!!!! Y’all!!! I am freaking out a little but I have some hope.
I could have a parasite. I could be puking my guts out. I could have the flu. There are so many other things that I could have in this moment making me ill. But instead, the Lord has given me only lice. Only lice y’all!! Woo hoo!!
So as my friends comb out all these little things I am thankful that I only have lice!! And I’m so thankful that the Lord is teaching me to change my perspective on all things. To find joy in Him and not in my circumstances.
PS- photo below to share the position I’ve been in for the last three hours!!!
With love and lice,
sav
