People ask me everyday, “how could you do something like that? how could you leave your life for a whole year?” They always follow it with, “I could never do something like that.”
First, I say that its fine that not everyone could see themselves doing this. There is a reason that they aren’t going. Christ hasn’t called them to it! And that is okay… There is something else that Christ is calling you too.
But anyways,
I always follow those questions with, I am a big adventurer or I am really just not a home body or I have always wanted to travel the world telling others about Jesus. But what I am unclear about is why I am like that. Why, am I really going?
Now, the World Race is just a way that Christ is sending people to spread His love and gospel all over the world. It is nothing more than a tool being used by God. I am the same thing. I am nothing more than a tool. Christ physically made me into someone that craves adventure, loves travelling, and looks forward to next experience that I can be apart of. All of these traits were given to me by Christ.
Christ made me someone that does have the capacity to sit at home for long periods of time, or better know as a homebody. (Now don’t get me wrong, I love my family more than they know sometimes.) But sitting at home just isn’t for me. I want to GO! Do something! Get out there! Christ has put these desires into my heart. He knows that I am itching to go and experience the world because he made me that way.
So, when people ask me, “why are you going? how could you do that?” It is nothing to do with myself.
It has all to do with Christ.
He made me into the person I am today. He allows me to crave adventure. He made me into someone who craves to see the world in many different perspectives. He put that curiosity in me to see the different cultures all over the world.
He is also the one that is sending me. He is the one saying, “I made you into the woman you are so that you would be equipped to go.”
Christ knew that I would one day go on this trip. He knew that and he equipped me for it. But does he only equip the ones he is sending across the world to spread the gospel? No. Absolutely not. He equips us all! For every part of our life that we are going to experience. He knows what we are going to encounter, and he wants us to walk with boldness into those things. Knowing that he has got us.
“How could you do something like that?”
I can only go on this trip because of Christ. Because of who he has made me. Because of the person he made me even before I was born. He has given me qualities that will allow me to move forward in boldness. Trusting that he has got me, he is holding me, he has equipped me for such an adventure.
I am going because Christ has put curiosity in my heart. I am going because I long to experience Christ in other parts of the world. I am going because Christ has equipped me. And just as he has equipped me, he has done the same for you.
“..so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:17
