Hey everyone!
I appreciate all of the comments, calls, texts, emails, DMs, even FaceTime calls from you this past week telling me that you’ve gone through or are going through a similar situation after reading my “Fear and Fake Smiles” post. This is what it’s all about.. Showing others they are not alone and how much God loves them.
For me, the World Race doesn’t start in October 2018; it starts now. It‘s not just about me going to 11 countries with only a backpack and tent while rocking out my chacos. This is about you. This is about people in our country and in other countries. This is about sharing the GOOD NEWS with everyone around us.
Any of us could travel to other countries if we really wanted to. Even I could save up money for let’s say a year and take a big trip overseas. The World Race is much bigger than that. Of course, I’m excited to explore other countries, but I’m even more excited to give up my illusion of control over my life. To take God out of the box that I have Him in. And show people how big He truly is.
I am posting on my blog before I even launch (fun word the World Race uses for the day we leave the U.S… makes me feel like an astronaut. Ha!) because I want you to be a part of this entire experience.
People throw in my face pretty regularly how much money I have to raise. God is soooo much bigger than $18,200, and honestly I’m not worried about it. If God puts it on your heart to give, please give.. If you add the World Race to your prayer list, please pray. If you’re an awesome encourager, please send some encouragement.
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:14-15)
My prayer is that this experience will encourage you to pop your bubble, see people around the world as children of God, take God out of the box, and tell others how BIG GOD IS.
I’m starting a new fundraiser… well it’s more of an “awareness”raiser. It’s called Adopt-A-Country.
I have made 11 different jars each representing a country that I will be living in on the World Race. What I need you to do is choose a country and commit to filling the jar with notes of encouragement, prayers, facts about the country, words in the country’s native language, spare change (I’m sure you have some in between your couch cushions. Haha) literally anything. You can put it on your desk at work, kitchen counter at your house, anywhere. You can even ask your friends to put notes or change in your jar.
I won‘t open any of the letters until I reach the country.
If you live out of state and want to jump in on this, I can mail you a plastic jar or you can fill one of your own jars at home. I think this will be a fun “awareness”raiser for the countries that I’m traveling to on the World Race.
