Inspired by my sweet squadmate Heather’s blog post. This is what I’m look forward to this fall!
- Training Camp. I am so excited to meet all of my awesome squadmates and see them face to face. We have been video chatting and facebooking every now and again. I can’t wait to be vulnerable with them, make new friends, and finally get put into teams.
- Graduation. I entered community college in 2009, got my AA in 2010. Technically it should have taken me two years to receive my Bachelors, but I was incredibly indecisive throughout my years. I hopped from major-to-major; anthropology to international studies to graphic design to elementary education to [finally] English. It has been a long road but I’m proud to say this is my very last semester! I will graduate on December 12th (although I’m not sure I’ll attend my graduation ceremony). And I am never ever ever going back to school.
- My Father’s Arrows. I am getting involved in this new organization in my town that I am SO excited about. MFA reaches the local children in state foster care. The founder, Sarah, wants to create a ranch for foster children and she has very high aspirations in helping these kids. She’s also gathering local families who want to foster these kids. I am so excited to be able to volunteer with them!
- Weather. I’m really looking forward to cooler, less humid weather. It has been absolutely ridiculous these past few weeks and I’m really itching to step outside in shorts and a tshirt and be like….”Eh….I need pants and a sweater.”
- Church. I want to try to get more involved in every facet of my church over the fall! I love my church family and want to give back as much as they’ve given me.
- Fundraising. Yep, I still need around $13k to be fully funded, and talking to people about money is overwhelming, but I’m planning on discussing pledges (both prayer and financial) with churches in my area, and I’m really excited about sharing the Race with all kinds of different people!
I can’t really think of anything else. I’ll share a verse that has really affected my life lately, and also a song I adore.
“May we never tire of doing what is good and right before our Lord because in His season we shall bring in a great harvest if we can just persist. So seize any opportunity the Lord gives you to do good things and be a blessing to everyone, especially those within our faithful family.“
-Galations 6:9-10
Bring your tired
Bring your shame
Bring your guilt
Bring your pain
Don’t you know that’s not you’re name
You will always be much more to me
Every day I wrestle with the voices
That keep telling me I’m not right
But that’s alright
‘Cause I hear a voice and He calls me redeemed
When others say I’ll never be enough
And greater is the One living inside of me
Than he who is living in the world
In the world
In the world
And greater is the One living inside of me
Than he who is living in the world
Bring your doubts
Bring your fears
Bring your hurt
Bring your tears
There’ll be no condemnation here
You are holy, righteous and redeemed
Every time I fall
There’ll be those who will call me
A mistake
Well that’s ok
There’ll be days I lose the battle
Grace says that it doesn’t matter
‘Cause the cross already won the war
He’s Greater
He’s Greater
I am learning to run freely
Understanding just how He sees me
And it makes me love Him more and more
He’s Greater
He’s Greater
