So much has happened in the short time we have been here. I met the entire X-Squad in NY City and we all flew into Bucharest, Romania together to begin launch. Launch is a week more of training. We had more sessions, worship, and got reacquainted with our big squad. As soon as we got to our hostel in downtown Bucharest we found that three girls were no longer coming on the trip with us, so team changes occurred within the first 24 hours. Welcome to the World Race, where the only constant is change. My new team is Team Wonder, including Mallory Martin, Kate Hughes, Ann Cedergren, Logan Brendel (our finance person) and Logan Brock (our team leader).
After Launch, we took an 11 hour train ride down to Sophia Bulgaria which t was quite the experience let me tell you. The bathroom on the bad boy was enough to write an entire blog about but I’ll spare you the details. This month we are working with an organization called Mission Possible. Mission Possible is located in German Bulgaria right outside of Sophia. They have three main outreaches. First is publishing, they are the only Christian Bulgarian magazine. They also publish Christian books from America in Bulgarian and they recently published a new more modern Bulgarian Bible. Second they run soup kitchens at some of the local gypsy churches, feeding the families and children of the different gypsy communities. Third they run training seminars for young children who drop out of school or gypsy girls and women who have married so young that they cannot read or write. They also do other seminars for Sunday school teachers and for other members of the community to learn basic skills. As if that wasn’t enough they added on another new project last year.

Three hours away from the home office in German Bulgaria, Mission Possible has purchased a huge building. The lord has asked them to expand their mission and DobroMirka was started. This building is currently where they hold all of their seminars. But come October this place with be a house of refuge for battered women and children. DobroMirka means good peace and that is exactly what this place holds. We are staying here for the month in what is like a college dorm setting. We have beds, a real toilet, running hot water, a balcony with an amazing view and the best host family you could ask for. We have already fallen in love with our contact as well as their hearts behind this ministry.
God has shown up in amazing ways and its only day two of the month here. I’m so excited to see the blessing that continue to come. Please pray for my new team as we continue to become a family and walk day by day in this journey together. Pray for the people here at Mission Possible as their dreams of DorboMirka are continue to come true. And pray for the people here in Bulgaria as we reach out and love them the best that we know how. Tonight we are attending our first church service here and are all very excited although we won’t be able to understand much. Some of us are speaking with the help of our dear friend Alex. Pray that God’s word would be shared tonight.
