After an amazing vacation to the black sea and a serious sunburn, we have left Bulgaria and the family we built there and have returned to Romania for month two of the race!
This month we are partnered with team Eucharisteo in Bihor, Romania working with Caminul Felix. Caminul Felix meaning Happy home is a family style orphanage. They have two villages consisting of 10 homes with 12 children and a married couple who has answered the call of God to be parents to abandoned children. Felix Family runs on a self-sustaining farm. They have many departments including a creamery, car workshop and a sewing department. The children will stay with the parents in the first home until they become teenagers and then they move to the teen homes. From there some of them will continue on with schooling and others will go to work for Felix family.
Also this month we are working with habitat for humanity building more homes for the villages. Children who have grown up in Caminul Felix are now living and raising their families here, taking in abandoned children, loving as they were loved. We have fallen in love with the way this ministry is run and the vision behind it. The family style orphanage where each child will grow up with both a mother and father, brothers and sisters, becoming a real family no matter where they came from. You can feel the love as soon as you hit the long drive up to the farm. And then even more when you sit around the living room and see the children running to the car when their parents come home from a quick errand in town.
Pray this month for both of our teams and our short time here together. Pray that we could see each of these children through God’s eyes and love them as hard as we know how. Pray that we could help them heal from wounds in their past by simply coming to play and hug and laugh every day. Pray that we would continue to be transformed by the stories and children we are blessed to be around every day, they are so precious.
