He strikes again, this time in an unexpected way. The devil in his cunning craftiness sneaks his way in, feeding us more lies. Lies that seem convincing at first, until the lie becomes something we think is true and start living. It’s as if they’ve been told, “These are the most delicious chocolate covered cherries you’ll ever taste.” They look so delicious on the outside, but after one bite we realize the red isn’t cherry, but poison. News flash! The devil is no dummy, knows our weaknesses, and wants to shove as many chocolate covered cherries down our throats- while laughing at our ignorance.

We hear:

So and so is better at this than you.

You have nothing to offer.

You’re not moving forward, you’re regressing.

You’re immature and stupid, no one wants to be bothered by you.

Remain silent.

You are not worthy.

When we start believing lies from the enemy, we start living out those lies.

We think other people are better, so we don’t use our God-given gifts and abilities as we should.

Will we ever take the blinders off and truly believe God is enough?

Truly believe that we don’t need to be like the person next to us in order to be successful. Truly believe and TRUST God knows what He’s doing with our lives.

Shouldn’t the truths of God void the lies of the devil? Why is it so easy to believe the lies and not the truth?

A few weeks ago I sat and pondered why people tend to believe things that aren’t true. I came to this realization: There is not enough life-giving, encouragement, truth-speaking in our world.

The world says,

“You can do better than this. You can be more than you are.”

The world doesn’t say,

“You are good enough just the way you are.”

God sent His son to earth to die on our behalf to make a point: to say to the world, I am more than enough for you and I love you just the way you are. He took it all on the cross so we could be free from guilt, shame, and condemnation.

Yet, we don’t live this way.

We nit-pick at the things we are good at to get “better” in hopes that God will love us more if we change; or we compare ourselves, wanting gifts others have.

It doesn’t make sense.

God created each individual a specific way on purpose. We are not on this earth to talk back to Him and question why.

We are here to say, “God, thank you for creating my life for purpose. Continually mold me and make me into who You want me to be.May my life reflect the love and compassion of Christ, and may I make an impact for Your Kingdom.”

It’s not about us; it’s about what He wants for our lives. If we are constantly wanting to have different gifts and abilities we are not trusting God. It’s a harsh reality- we are doing ourselves and the world a disservice by wanting more than what God has given us, when what He has given us is good.

We need to spend our days not wondering how we can change, but how we can be used by God. We weren’t created to constantly question God, we were created to submit and be obedient to His call.

I have had enough.

I’m tired of seeing people buy into the lies. You are good enough the way you are because Christ is enough. He is more than enough. Nothing you do can make Him love you more; nothing you do can make Him love you less.

Stop believing the lies, believe and live in the truth. Lies will hold you captive, but the truth will set you free.

“Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like that?’ Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purpose and some for common use?” [Romans 9:20-21]
