Thursday, November 8th

Woke up to the most beautiful sunrise ever. Ate one of my favorite breakfasts- apples, peanut butter, and banana bread. Spent some time with Jesus and headed off to ministry.

Went into the school with a fresh perspective and prayed before I entered the classroom. It’s gonna be a good day. There was a teacher from New York who was teaching the class today. He read stories to the children in funny accents to try to get the students to stay focused. They mostly just attacked him. Then it was arts and crafts time. We cut up magazines and made collages of random pictures- clothes, chicken, beaches, sunsets, wedding dresses.

Time for breakfast at 8:30 ish. All the kids rush outside and buy everything from chocolate bars to noodles to seaweed chips. The teacher I assist bought coconut sticky market from the market for me! It was such a blessing to know that she was thinking of me. Back in at 9 to finish arts and crafts. I got to look at some super cool travel magazines and clean up the classroom for the teacher.

Then we headed back outside to play. John, the teacher from NY, led an exercise/ yoga routine which was super fun and funny all at the same time. Then I spent the last 15 minutes spinning kids in circles and throwing them up in the air. Once you do it to one child, they are most likely going to swarm you with their hands in the air, yelling “me, me!”

Wow- what a morning it has been. I’m learning that even though this might not be the ministry I’d like, or if I’m not enjoying it, I can still press into all the Lord has to offer in the day and find joy in the little things. I mean I’m literally waking up to go love on kids with the sole purpose of glorifying God in all I do. I would never imagine a season of my life spent in Cambodia doing this, but I am super grateful and want to soak up every moment.
