A New Day

I’m learning that each day is such a blessing and we never get to experience this day again. With that perspective, I’m totally pumped for this next month to embrace each moment, delve deeper, and boldly share Jesus’ love.

So what’s Month 2 look like? Very different from Month 1. First off- I’m no longer teaching English. I thought teaching would be something I’d be super passionate about but it honestly wasn’t and I felt the Lord pushing me to do something different that I don’t do back home. Here’s my new typical day in the Bode:

6 AM- Wake up and get ready.

6:30 AM- Breakfast and devotionals

8:30- 20 minute bike ride to the trauma hospital.

9-11 AM – Volunteer wherever needed at the hospital. Some of our time will look like card making for any occasion. They are the main source of fundraising for the organization we are serving with. Some of our time will look like hanging out, playing board games, singing songs or praying for the caregivers and family members of patients. We won’t get too spend much time in the wards with the actual patients but we can spend time praying for those around the facility.

11 AM- Bike back home.

12 PM- Lunch followed by personal time with the Lord.

1-4 PM- A time for a variety of things. This time could include resting, running errands for the kitchen/house, praying, doing ‘ATL’-Ask the Lord to pretty much lead us to do bold things around the city, preparing for dinner.

4-6 PM- Cooking dinner. Two other team members and myself are responsible for cooking dinner for the 30 squadmates still living in Battambang. So far I love it. It makes you appreciate the amount of work it takes to cook a good meal and keep up with cleaning and serving our family well. It’s tiring chopping veggies til your fingers prune up and washing an hours worth of dishes, but serving starts at home. I’m blessed to get to serve this family with any opportunity I get.

6:30 PM- Dinner

7:30 PM- Team time

That is a new day in the life. I’m excited for some familiarity but also some change. Some other things we are implementing into these new months are Team Dinners and Date nights. Every Sunday my team and I is going to either cook or go out to dinner together. We will be super intentional to come together and share our life moments from the week since we won’t all be doing the same ministry. We will also be intentional about the people who are serving us and taking any opportunity to pray for and love them. For date nights, each week we will draw a teammates name and they will be ‘our person’ for the week to go out or invest time into.

I’m excited for what will happen in these next 2 months. I have about $3,000 left to raise by the end of the year. If you would like to be a part of my journey in this way and help me continue to plant seeds and share the love of Jesus, do not hesitate. I want you guys to be a huge part of this season with me and even if you aren’t physically on the field, you are making a huge difference all the way here in Cambodia. If you are unable to donate, please pray! Pray for the people here, our ministry, our teams, and my own heart; that it’ll be solely dedicated on the Lord’s mission. Love you all!
