Today I had the privilege of helping a long time friend at a charity event for the the juvenile diabetes research foundation.

As I was driving around the little ole town of Hungerford, TX I passed several freshly plowed fields. I began to think about all the work the farmers had just done. (I’m sure I’m simplifying their work so please don’t take offense.) Their crop either died or went out of season so they had to plow their fields, then they had to sow the seed that was in season. I can imagine they are hoping and praying for rain, sun, and the grace of God to allow them to make a big profit this year.

It made me think about Jesus and what He did for us. He died on the cross to save us from our sins. He wiped us clean just as the farmer did with his field. He then “sowed” His “seed” in our hearts. Just like the farmers crop grows as he waters it and fertilizes it, we too flourish with the word of God.

I got all of this just from driving down a few little country roads. Friends, open your eyes and you will find Him. Allow yourselves to look for Him and he will  be found!

Jesus spoke in parables when speaking to His disciples. Those of you who know of anything farming related that Jesus taught please comment below. This might be nice to share while on the race if I meet any farmers!

Be Still,
