Dear Family and Friends,
I hope this letter finds you well! I wanted to write you to let you know about some new things that are going on in my life. I will be graduating in May with a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Baylor University. In the past, the idea was that I would go straight to graduate school to pursue my Masters. God had other plans though! I have wanted to go on the World Race since I was in 8th grade when one of my interns at church participated. After applying to the race along with several jobs, graduate schools, and other programs, I figured I would wait it out and see what happens. I was accepted to both the race and Eastern University so I will be going on the race, leaving September 2013, and starting school when I return to the States!
I will serve as a missionary through an organization, Adventures in Missions, in their World Race program. The World Race is an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 different countries around the world. The set schedule takes me through Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, China, Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, India, Nepal, Romania, and Ukraine, however those plans sometimes vary depending on what God has in store for us!
Through working with churches and ministries in local communities my team and I will preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children who are trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and be a light and source of hope to many tribes and nations. The World Race promises adventure, ministry, community, and self-discovery as we, the racers, develop broken hearts that propel our lives toward bettering God’s kingdom.
I am so grateful for this opportunity that God has given me, and have every confidence that He will provide for my needs! Ultimately, my prayer is that He will do that through you. I am writing to you to ask if you would consider partnering prayerfully and financially with me in my ministry. I must raise $15,500 in order to go on the World Race, which covers all of my expenses on the field, but does not cover travel to training camp, to and from our launch site, and anything I might need for the race (sleeping mat, backpack, mosquito netting, a tent). This financial support can be given as a one-time gift or as monthly donation, wherein you choose the amount and beginning and end date. I am trying to encourage at least 111 people to donate $11 for 11 months, this will get me very near my goal. This is one fancy drink on Friday night, a dinner out, or a couple Starbuck’s drinks that you can pass up once a month to help me and my mission. I hope you will consider supporting my mission to spread Christ’s love to the least of these!
You can make an easy donation online, to the left of the blog. Just click the “Support Me” link in the upper left side of the page and complete your donation as instructed. Online, you can chose to have the money taken out every month or give a one-time gift. However, if you would rather send a check, click the "Contact me" link and I will send you a response card and pre-addressed envelope, inviting you to share in this ministry. Please make checks payable to Adventures In Missions and return the response card with your donation to Adventures In Missions, PO Box 534470, Atlanta, GA, 30353-4470. The response card will provide AIM with the information necessary to send you a receipt for your donation.
I am so excited to see how God will move in my life and in the lives of others in the coming year. I hope not only to be a blessing to those I serve, but also to you. I would be honored to go as your representative to bring Christ Jesus to nations around the world. I want to thank you in advance for your prayers and financial support. May God bless you as you prayerfully consider partnering with me in this ministry.
In Him,
Sasha Hosick
