Real Men.

Men of God.

These are who I saw February 12th, 2015.

The men of G Squad (Sam, John, Jonathan, Joshua, Joe, Myles, Kevin, Will, and Nate) planned a fantastic Valentine’s Day dinner for us women of G Squad. We got dressed in our World Race Fancy clothes and waited for our three escorts. When they arrived in their second-hand suits, we were ready to go. Our group walked through the snowy streets laughing into the night air. We were greeted at the church by more of our men. As we crossed the threshold of the church, the men took our coats. We descended the stairs and entered a candlit room with a long, elegant table running down the center. As I looked for my place name, I noticed all the little details of napkins folded and chocolate hearts.

After we all found our seats, we were told to take the person across from us’ name card and read the words on the other side to them. The men had prayed over each of us and gotten words. Joe, Jonathan, and Nate sang us a song. Afterwards the men did a foot washing ceremony for us. It was beautiful. We worshipped God.

Then dinner was served! Chicken/fish in a delicious sauce over risotto with broccoli. For dessert we were given a shell chocolate and red velvet cheesecake brownies. We have a chef on our squad.

We went upstairs to take photos and give the men our gifts to them.

As we walked back to the house, I reflected on why they looked like men of God.

They served.

They shared their hearts.

They took risks to honor us.

I have seen these men grow over the past 8 months, but it didn’t hit me until that night just how much they reflect God’s love for His Church.

So men of G Squad, I love you and am so proud and blessed to call you my brothers and to serve alongside you. Continue to be shining examples of what real men are.

Much love,

Saraya
