It’s officially been one week in Haiti. I never expected the country to be so beautiful! It is a tropical paradise. At the same time, the poverty and living conditions of the people are beyond belief. This month we are working with an organization called Supply & Multiply in Montrouis, Haiti (Pronounced moe-wee). They have two homes, Matthew 25 Houses, for disadvantaged elderly in the community. They give them shelter, food and medical care. We visit, do crafts, offer encouragement and pray with these people. In addition, we go out into surrounding communities to evangelize, help with projects and pray for those who need it. We also go to the local elementary school to teach bible stories and play with the kids.

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took me in; I was naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me; I was in prison and you visited me.” Matthew 25:35-36

Outside of ministry this week I have spent a bit of time laying in my hammock under the mango trees, resting in the Lords presence and praying for what this year will bring. While I can’t help but feel anxious for what’s to come during the next 10 and a half months, I feel an overwhelming peace that this is exactly where He wants me to be. I constantly feel Him slowing down my thoughts to marvel at His creation and appreciate the beauty in the small things all around us in Haiti. My heart is already with this country and its people.

Here are a few of my favorite moments from our first week and a look inside our ministry.

We may not speak the same language but Olisiana and I became instant BFFs.

Nothing is more magical than worshipping with your team on the beach at sunset.

More updates soon! Love from Haiti,
