Friends, Family & Supporters –
As many of you already know, in January 2018 I will be leaving for the World Race, an 11 month mission trip where I will live and serve in 11 different countries. Traveling with a team of about 50 people, we will be living in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, India, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Uganda. While on the World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with local churches and ministries. We will be spreading the Gospel, planting churches, working with trafficking victims, teaching English, and much more.
My experience with international missions began in 2010. I served as a camp counselor for orphaned children in Lusaka, Zambia, at Camp Life with Family Legacy Missions International. That summer, a seed was planted in my heart and my eyes were opened to something much greater than myself. Three years later, in 2013, the Lord called me back to Africa with Family Legacy at a time in my life that I needed it the most. That summer, my group of 8-10 year old boys at Camp Life changed my faith in a big way and solidified my desire to continue to serve abroad.
Fast forward four years and God has pressed on my heart that it is finally time to go abroad again, in a much bigger way. The moment I heard about the World Race I knew in my heart it was the next chapter. So, for the entire year of 2018, I am leaving everything behind and seeing what the Lord has in store for me. I am eager to follow the Lord’s call to serve the least, the last, and the lost by spreading love and hope around the world!
However, I cannot take this journey alone. There are two ways that you can partner with me throughout this journey. First and most importantly, I need prayer. This next year will be challenging emotionally, spiritually and physically. I ask that you pray for me, my team, and the countries and people we will encounter. Secondly, to participate in the World Race, I have to raise $18,100 dollars to cover all of my field expenses including travel, food, lodging, and insurance. As I take this next step of faith, would you prayerfully consider joining me in a monthly or one time donation? Below are two ways that you can give:
- Checks by mail can be made payable to Adventure in Missions and mail them to P.O. Box 742570, Atlanta, GA 30374-2570. Please include my full name, Sara Owen, in the memo line.
- Donate online through this blog with a credit or debit card – click the orange donate button above ^.
In addition to financial support from friends and family, I will be contributing a significant amount of my own money for this trip. I will be fundraising throughout the next 5 months in a variety of ways. I am continuing to babysit here in Dallas with 100% of my proceeds going towards the Race. I will be baking and decorating sugar cookies and designing handmade jewelry that I will be selling through Instagram and a series of trunk shows. You can follow my Instagram account @sugar_and_stones to stay updated with my cookie and jewelry fundraising.
Please let me know if you have any questions about the Race. I would love to tell you more about how the Lord is working in my life as I prepare and what my team will be doing in the field!
Love from Dallas, Sara
