This past month, our squad was in the mountains of Lajas de Yaroa, Dominican Republic. It was all squad month, so instead of each team going to a different city within the country, we were all together with one ministry host. We were staying and working with an organization called HOPE Dominican Republic. HOPE has planted five churches in the surrounding area, opened two children’s centers, and focuses their efforts on bringing a Christ-centered transformation to the Dominican Republic. This month, we were able to work on various construction projects around their property, including building a new drainage system and cementing a roof. We fixed up a basketball court down the street that turned into a community wide effort. We were also able to hang with the local kids and visit some families to deliver groceries and prayer.

With 42 of us in one location, projects were completed quickly, which left us with quite a bit of down time. But to be completely honest, I was thankful for a slower ministry month. I left Haiti feeling frustrated with my relationship with the Lord. I came into the Race with big expectations of growth and a deeper understanding of my faith. The problem was, I wanted all the growth all at once. After some time reflecting, I felt the Lord telling me to be still and simply spend time with Him. My own expectations were getting in the way of trusting Him for how He wanted me to grow. So while we did some incredible ministry in the DR (videos coming soon), most of my month was focused on listening, praying, and just being with the Lord. The DR was exactly where He wanted me to be and it ended up being an incredible month of revelation and rejuvenation. I am confident that this month was greatly needed to better prepare me spiritually for what’s to come on the Race. Here are some photos from our oasis in the mountains of Lajas.

Please continue to pray for my team as we are now in Browns Town, Jamaica. We are living with a Pastor and his wife and working with several churches in the surrounding communities. Our time in Jamaica so far has been incredible. This past week, we have been working with Alexandria New Testament Church of God. We have been painting the church, leading bible studies and evangelizing in their community. More updates coming soon!
