I have been thinking a lot about church lately and how most people perceive church. Of course now a lot of how we fellowship has changed and how that changes our church?
I am sure most of you have heard someone tell you that your body is a temple and that you have to take care of it! This is true but I think that a lot of us are missing the full meaning of that. Of course, we do need to stay healthy and take care of our earthly body,
but in Ephesians 2: 20-22 it says
Christ Jesus himself being j the cornerstone, 21 k in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into l a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In him m you also are being built together n into a dwelling place for God by 4 the Spirit.
As we grow in our faith we are being built piece by piece into God’s home. Looking more like a temple every day. Most of my life I have walked through life with the idea “I am a temple so I have to take care of my body. sweet!” The thing is I never really thought of my body as God’s house. When I think of God’s house or the church I think of a holy place where God moves in extreme ways. Well, what if we thought of our heart the same way that we think about the church. What if you let your heart be the holy place where because of God in your miracles happen through you? What if you radiated everything that a church should be?
Well, what should a temple look like well I am glad you asked because I made a little thing.
What is a Temple
The house of the Lord
What are some indicators of a house of the Lord
1. Where worship takes place.
Do you live out worship? Not just singing a song but worshiping God by living on your knees in gratification and thanksgiving for every breath that you breathe? Are all your action in worship to Him? A lot of times we use the things that we should be doing to grow closer to God we really do to feel better about ourselves. Are you leading out in worship or in self-gratification?
2. where prayer takes place.
Do you stay in constant conversation with your father? Surrendering everything to Him in prayer letting Him guide you? Do you speak out your thankfulness to Christ daily? Even for the things God gave you that you didn’t want or that you thought were bad or hard?
3. A place with discipleship in mind.
Do you strive to show God’s attributes not just with your words and actions but with your outlook on life and how you approach life or in how you love? God says that He is after the hearts of others. Your faith is not about you it is about surrendering to the Lord and going after the hearts of the lost and help grow your brothers and sisters in any way possible. Because that is our mission!
4. A place taken up by God’s presence and His attributes.
Do love, kindness, selflessness, sacrifice, peace, surrender, justness, hard work, patients, etc seep out of every crack of your heart? Your heart should be a window into God’s beauty. God’s light should glow out of you. You should be a lantern to light the path to your savor.
5. A place where growth takes place.
If you are walking with Christ you can’t help but grow closer to him even if it looks different then you thought it would!
Much like God is building you brick by brick through this time where your fellowship and teaching are taking place in your home your house should look more and more like a temple. your family should look more and more like a church. If we can learn to surrender and let God make our family look more like a church through this time then maybe when we get back to the corporate fellowship we can start having our church look more like family!
