The park we stopped to pray at (PC: Elijah Arns):

Shanghai Skyline at the Bund:

The biggest Starbucks in the world (Yes we’re tourists!):

The train to ZZ and X didn’t have a ton of room for sleeping. The cabin is non-smoking but that doesn’t mean they close the doors to the connection between cabins, where all the men gather to smoke, so the acrid taste of smoke sits at the back of your throat. Both trains have been overnight, so we’ve spent 7+ hours sleeping like this:

Walking around the old city. We watched a traditional shadow puppet play, got our fortunes told by birds, and tried rice wine (tastes like sweet vinegar):

We had to walk to get wifi. One day, the family’s little dog (we named her Daisy) followed us all the way there and back!

Teaching “Attack the Castle” (percentage math game) to Chinese Students. They loved it so much they asked to play twice!

Watching the most famous calligraphy artist in the entire province! We also got the opportunity to try out the art form.

Carving a Marble Stamp. Since my name translates to “salad”, I chose instead to do the word “princess”, which is the meaning of Sarah in Hebrew.

Riding home in a tuk-tuk after a long day and missing our bus. We were so hungry (and there was so much traffic) that Bo jumped out of the tuk-tuk, bought fried chicken, and jumped back in with full support of the driver.

Teaching Juan to play the ukulele.

Hope you enjoyed this small glimpse into our lives!
