We’re nearing the end of the race, with just one month left to go. If you’re new to my blog, this is the World Race blooper reel, starring Team August!  I collect our funniest, most ridiculous moments from each month, and you can read them here.

On one of our first days of ministry, we had a 12-hour day before coming home. We had some down time, and my teammate Sarah decided to take a nap in the classroom we were hanging out in. I saw an opportunity and promptly dared Jace to draw a mustache on her. He obliged, and we were rewarded with much amusement when she finally noticed.

On that same day, we were volunteering at a preschool. I was standing near one of the slides on the indoor playground, when this hilarious exchange happened:  Axl, one of the preschool students, looked me dead in the eye as seriously as possible, and shouted out “Hasta la vista, Baby!” before flying down the slide. That phrase may be cliche, but hearing a four year-old say it in priceless.

One of our assignments for the various children’s ministries we worked in involved performing short puppet shows with a biblical message. I took the lead on this area and performed in all of the shows we did, and the first and last ones were quite memorable. In the first, my chair inexplicably collapsed under me causing my character to disappear mid-line.

Just before the last show, I discovered that I had left the CD behind (we worked with recorded scripts since we aren’t native Spanish speakers). With no other option, I became the voices of all three puppets, one of which was an elderly, cantankerous librarian. My theatre background has been quite useful on the Race!
