Some basics for those of you just now dropping in: My sister and I are about to embark an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 different countries across 4 continents. We’re headed to: Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile, Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Cambodia, and Thailand. The work will range from country to country in partnership with established ministries in each area. We’ll work in orphanages, build churches, minister to trafficked women, and more. Between the two of us, we need to raise a total of $36,000 by October 2017.
If you’re following our road to the Race, I’ve got a couple quick updates for all of you!
1. Miranda and I officially moved back home! It’s impossible to save money in New York, so back home we went. After a not-so-quick trip (14 days, 109 driving hours, 17 states, and 5,518 miles) we arrived in Galveston, Texas. If you’d like to see more about our voyage across the country, I have a quick video. Along the way, we stayed with women from a Christian organization called Aglow. We made this video for an Aglow conference to share our story.
2. We got jobs! Between the two of us, we’re working 4 jobs and every extra penny is going to our World Race savings. I’ll be writing another post about my part time position fighting sex trafficking at a nonprofit in Houston. Stay tuned!
3. We’re selling paintings to help raise funds! I can do custom works in any size! Click the link below to see a couple of my pieces. If you’d like one, just shoot me an email at [email protected]
4. We made an Instagram page to share our journey leading up to October, and once we’re on the race. Follow @gosisgo to get updates. You won’t want to miss those posts from overseas next year!
And that’s about it! Thank you all for your support thus far. Fundraising like this is very new to my sister and me. It’s a bit scary. Actually, it’s a lot scary. Somedays, I am sure that we’re crazy. I ask myself how we ever got on this path. But my God is faithful and my God is good. And when I can’t imagine this money ever getting raised I remember that He “is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or imagine.”
Please continue to pray for us as we prepare to leave in October and spread the word.
