For those of you who don’t know me, hi my name is Sarah! I am 22 years old from Kansas City, MO and KS. I just graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelors of Social Work. I was attending the University of Kansas for Graduate School but God obviously had different plans for me. So now I am here!
I have lived in Kansas City, Mo and KS for majority of my life except when I attended school at Mizzou. I am from a pretty large family, there are 6 of us. My mom and dad have been married for almost 40 years and have four children. My dad is a high school History teacher and football/track coach. My mom used to teach PE, then was a stay-at-home mom and now works for our church. I have two brothers and a sister. My oldest brother is married and has a 1-year-old son. They live in Columbia, MO. My brother used to be a football coach for Mizzou football but now he works for Veterans United. My sister-in-law is the development director for a non-for profit residential group home for children in the foster care system. My sister and her husband live in Denver, CO. My sister is also the director of development for a non-for-profit that helps provide housing for families that have children sick in the hospital. My brother-in-law is a project manager for Summit Integrated Systems which is a company that does all of the technology for churches. My other older brother is also a high school teacher and he teaches English and History in a small town in Missouri.
Here is my family!

What is the World Race?
The World Race is an 11-month mission trip to 11 different countries through the organization Adventures in Mission. In each country we live and work with agencies that have been established in country and who are supported by many different organizations. We will be giving a missionary contact in each country who are sometimes native born and sometimes American born. This missionary contact will be giving us our day to day tasks in each country as well as sometimes feeding and housing us. The months where this does not happen it will be up to us to find food and housing. In every country our mission looks different. In some countries we will be caring for children, other months we will be building a well or house. A lot of times we will be teaching English. A few times we will get to rescue people caught in the sex slave trafficking. All while evangelizing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Why the World Race?
I have wanted to go on the WR since my freshman year of college when I heard about it as a mission conference that I went to (Thanks Kacci!). And ever since then I have done a ton of research on it, read a bunch of blobs, watched all of the videos, and prayed to Jesus about if this is something I should do. Every year I check and see the new routes that are posted to see if this is the year that I could be going on the race and every year it never made since for me to go until now.
What now?
For the next 8 month I will continue working until Launch, support raising, and getting ready to leave the country for a year.
Where and How?
I will be traveling to Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, lesotho, South Africa, Madagascar, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. I will be carrying everything I need to live off of for 11 months on my back! Restocking on supplies as we go. To do this I need generous people who feel called to fuller the kingdom of God to provide support for me to go. The cost of the trip covers my travel, food, lodging, insurance, visas, and training.
