Side note: in this instance “Home” is where the heart is, and my heart is with you guys – Not just Michigan
As I am getting ready to leave to Dominican Republic, I wanted to write a letter to say “see you later!” Goodbyes are hard, especially when you know the next closest time you can physically be with someone is 11 months away. This has been one of the hardest things I’ve had to do within the last month because my life has been made infinity better by the people in it. So this letter is for all of my “family” (friends, family, supporters) back home.
Dear Family,
To those who I didn’t get the chance to say goodbye to, goodbye. To those who I have been able to say goodbye to, goodbye again. This is actually a “see-you -later“; a promise to you that I will be back (as I am forced to leave a place that I will fall absolutely in love with in the next 11 months) – I mean I don’t think Adventures in Missions would like it if I didn’t at least return to the states with my squad before leaving again. – But all jokes aside, I’ll be back to see your face and hug you tight. I am so excited to see all of your faces and share my experiences with you guys when I get back. I will miss you even though I may not be able to express it or communicate with you.
Regardless of if I was able to say goodbye to you or not, I want you to know that it was so hard to process leaving you all. Goodbyes are so hard but God and I talked about it and something He showed me was how blessed and loved I truly am. Goodbyes are hard but I am so thankful that I have people in my life that make them as difficult as they are. So thank you guys.
I am so excited for this next chapter of my life and can’t wait to share it with all. Thank you for all of your encouragement throughout this journey. I know sometimes it’s no time easy but I probably wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you all reminding me that this is an aawesome esome chance for me to do something that’s makes my heart so happy, and that I can do this because of God’s strength your support. Being Jesus to the least of these in so many nations is going to be an incredible experience and I am thankful to have people who love and support me and are eager to hear my stories.
Moral of this post: I love you all. Thanks for being so great! See you in approximately 11 months (:
-Sarah
