In all honesty it is taking everything in me to sit down and write this blog. Sometimes life just goes by and the days get away from you and before you know it two months have gone by. So many things have happened and I have seen and done so much. I am currently in Thailand right now and I am entering the eighth month of the race. I don’t even know where the time went. When I signed up for the race 11 months seemed like it would be so long. Now that I have seven months in my rearview mirror I am realizing just how quickly these months have gone by.
With that being said, I am learning that each day is precious. The reality is that our time here on earth is extremely short and we have to take advantage of every moment. This month has consisted of just waking up each day and simply asking God what he has for me and my team that day. The results have been amazing.
One day this week my team member Aryne got a vision of our team going to a park and sitting and watercoloring and inviting others in. So that’s what we did. We all sat at a table in the middle of a park and waited for the Lord to move. And he did. We didn’t do anything spectacular. We didn’t even approach people. We just sat. And all of a sudden people started coming. One woman didn’t even speak any English, but she saw that we were painting and writing and she wanted to join so we let her. She sat with us and wrote notes and painted with us. She was smiling so big the entire time and we weren’t even able to communicate with her. It was one of the most touching moments on the race.
God has taught me through all of this to simply just open my eyes to what is around me. There are always people and opportunities right in front of us and all we need to do is ask the Lord to show us. All we need to do is open ourselves up to what God has because when we actually look up we realize that He has something so much greater for us than we have for ourselves.
