Hello Everyone! I know what you’re thinking… aren’t you about to go to college? Why choose a mission trip now? Trust me, I get this question… a lot. Hi, i’m Sarah, and this is why I love mission work. First off, a little about me though. I am a high school senior and a major math geek. My favorite food is sushi and I love dogs… especially labs. Now that we are friends, I can tell you the why behind the what. Growing up, I worked in preschool daycare for 5 years. There, I learned what it meant to teach the younger generations about God. And I also learned a lot about patience. From there, I began to participate in vacation bible school as a crew leader. Yes, I still remember every single hand motion and dance to “This Little Light of Mine.” As I grew up, and life delivered trial after trial, I figured that I could use my experiences to cater to an older age group. Over summer, I worked with 5th and 6th grade girls. At this point, I felt God had showed me part of my spiritual gifts. If you know me, you know I love talking. What better way to do that than guiding bible studies, praying, and helping these girls through some of their toughest times in life. But for me, volunteering over summer was not enough. I dedicated my 2019 Spring Break to a mission trip in Mexico, which I can say was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. God was showing me how he was going to integrate his kingdom in my life. Furthermore, I was surrounded by lifelong friends that are, to this day, always there for me. So that’s why. That’s why I am devoting my 2020 Summer to Thailand mission work for two months. That’s why I am choosing ministry over money. That’s why I am putting full faith in God to help me raise money for a trip that I can’t afford on my own. Am I crazy? 100%. Is it worth it? 100%.
