Quick Update: I have met my second goal of $10,000!! I am so blown away by God’s provision and everyone’s generosity. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
The month of August pretty much doesn’t exist for me this year. On July 31st I left the country and headed to Guatemala for a 7-day mission trip. This was the last trip I would make as a Student Intern for Forest Hill, so it was bitter sweet. It was so incredible to watch my students and friends love well and recognize their desperation for God. It was also a very reaffirming trip for me; at the end of the week all I wanted was to stay longer, to continue loving and learning from the lovely people of La Limonada. It made me that much more excited to launch for the Race in October. There are so many amazing stories I could tell about our time there, but that would take all day. If you are interested in our work, check out Megan Fair’s blog: penniesandpizza.com. There are also quite a few funny stories; if you know someone who went on this trip be sure to ask them about our mad dash through the Miami airport on Saturday night!
I returned from Guatemala late, late Saturday night and I will be leaving again tomorrow morning for Gainesville, Georgia. In Georgia, my squad and I will finally get to meet (YAY!!) and participate in a 10-day training camp. This camp basically serves to prepare us for any situation we may encounter on the World Race. We will be sleeping in our tents, using buckets to bathe, eating different types of food, and doing team building challenges. To quote some previous racers: it’s the best 10 days of your life that you never want to do again! My squad would so appreciate your prayers for perseverance, faith, strength, patience, and COOL WEATHER.
After I return from Training Camp, I will be in Charlotte for about 12 days before moving back to Austin. I decided to use the month of September to spend as much time with my family as I can before I leave them for a year. I am hoping this month will be a time of rest and restoration, as well as some last minute fundraisers and REI shopping.
I know my blogs usually have some personal spiritual lessons, but this time I simply wanted to keep you informed on my crazy journey! I will probably not be posting for a little while just because I will lack internet access. Please continue praying for my squad and I, sharing my posts, and telling others about my trip. We have come so far but I still have a little way to go! As always, thank you so much for your support, love, and prayers. Peace and Blessings!
