A Life of Worship

Waking up to the sun beams starting to gleam inside of my tent and the sound of roosters, donkeys, and other animals performing there morning rituals, starting the day with God and turning over any expectations I might have for what the day holds… This was how I lived for the past month in the mountains of the Dominican Republic.

After getting to our launch site in Santo Domingo our team of seven was told that we were going to the highest mountains in the Domnican to share God’s love with the people and villages there. I was excited for the intense month of ministry that I knew was before me and praying that God would break any and every expectation that I was holding.

During that month we got to live like the Dominican people, make close connections, and share the love of Christ with these people who lived a life of worship everyday. We got to work in Los Montacitos, with a compassion school there and a pastor that we came to know and love named Domingo. We taught English, helped tear down and start the process of re-building and expanding the church we were working with, taught Suday school and youth ministries, and on some days walked over 2 hours to share God’s love with people.

This past month God really taught me to live a life of worship for him. Worship in whatever circumstance and whatever situation I may be in. The Dominican people we lived with were always praising God and it was such an encouragment to all the people around them. They were a people full of love and passion for Christ and my hearts prayer for the month was to see God’s kingdom come and for the people of Los Montacitos to be moved. During our month there we saw eight people come to know the Lord and it was such a blessing that we saw the fruit of what God is doing there. I know that God will continue his work Los Montacitos and through the pastor and the amazing church body there. I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to spend my first month in the mountains worshipping God and seeing the beauty of his creation and being a part of the seeds he was planting there.
