This month’s adventure days had limits. It is completely true that in the last four months of the Race, everyone watches their money VERY carefully!
One of our cultural experiences was to eat a traditional dinner, and a few people also helped make the dinner. It was little baby fish that you can eat in one bite, head and all, a cornmeal dish called enshima, larger chunks of fish, and greens that looked like cooked kale. It was actually very good, considering the last time I had fish was a rather unpleasant experience in Indonesia.
My adventure for the month was going to Victoria Falls. There wasn’t a great amount of water because we went at the end of the dry season, but they are still highly impressive! The sheer wall of rocks and boulders, plus the loud sounds of pounding water echoing down the canyon prompts thoughts of God and the incredible majesty of his creation!
The baboons, however, were terrifying. There is part of the falls call “The Boiling Pot”. To get there, you have to walk down a long, rocky trail to the bottom of the canyon. There were four of us that wanted to go down. About 5 minutes down the trail, we came across a husband and wife that had stopped in the middle of about 20 baboons. They were trying to get around a mom and baby. The guy slipped and a male baboon lunged at him. It scared all of us pretty good, and we decided to turn around and head back up the hill. No Boiling Pot for us!
At the end of the day, we went to a nearby resort to watch the sunset. It was a perfect ending to the day!
